Okinawa Environmental Justice Project

From March 27th to 29th, the World Heritage Watch , a Berlin-based NGO which deals exclusively with UNESCO World Heritage, will host online its NGO-UNESCO Dialogue Forum. And the Okinawa Environmental Justice Project will participate in it. This will be our second time taking part in the Forum (We participated in February 2022). Our report was accepted, and we have been invited to present our case at the Forum on March 29th.    The NGO-UNESCO Dialogue Forum is a brainchild of the World Heritage Watch. The Forum provides a rare opportunity for civil society and indigenous communities to discuss their concerns regarding World Heritage sites directly with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, **IUCN, ICOM...

  3 月 27 日から 29 日まで、ベルリンを拠点にユネスコ世界遺産に関連する問題を扱う NGO  World Heritage Watch が、 NGO-UNESCO 対話フォーラム（ NGO-UNESCO Dialogue Forum ）をオンラインで開催します。そして Okinawa Environmental Justice Project もそのフォーラムに参加します。私たちにとってこのフォーラムへの参加は 2 度目になります（ 2022 年 2 月に参加しました）。 NGO-UNESCO Forumの参加者たち Image Source: World Heritage Watch この 3 月上旬、 4 人が著者となり*、世界自然遺産であるやんばるの森と米軍北部訓練場そして米軍廃棄物に関する報告を World Heritage Watch に提出しました（報告文和訳は下で読めます）。私たちの報告は受理され、今回のフォーラムで私たちの訴えを発表するよう招待されました。私たちの発表は 29 日になります。 NGO-UNESCO 対話フォーラムは、 World Heritage Watch が発案したものです。このフォーラムは、市民社会や先住民族コミュニティが世界遺産に関する懸念をユネスコ世界遺産センター、** IUCN 、 ICOMOS 、 ICCROM と直接話し合うことができる貴重な機会となっています。   この3月のフォーラムは、市民社会、先住民族コミュニティ、国際機関の間で開かれた真の議論を促進することを目的としおり、クローズドセッションとして運営されます。部外者や政府の代表者は参加できません。 また 9 月にはこの3月フォーラムに続き、同様のフォーラムが サウジアラビアのリヤドで開催されるユネスコ世界遺産会議 と並行するかたちで開催されるます。この NGO-UNESCO 対話フォーラムは公開される予定です。国際機関や締約国が、この 3 月のフォーラムでの市民社会や先住民族の報告や発表にどのように対処してきたかを知ることができます。 市民調査の実施　東村高江 World Heritage Watch との連携は、非常にポシティブで価値あるものとなっています。地元の人々が、よりオープンに懸念を表明し、やんばるの森を守るた...
